Questionnaire Results

We firstly created a questionnaire and asked several people within our target audience to watch our film and finish said questionnaire afterwards. Overall the results were similar, which we had hoped for due to the age ranges, this included the fact that the storyline seemed confusing.
After recieving said results, we decided as a whole group to either change the scenes around or to refilm parts or even a new scene. In the end we moved Mr Jones' scene with his friend closer to the beginning of the film to make the audience understand better as the film continued.

Due to this change, here is the final first two minutes of our film 'Peephole'.

This is our final edit. As a group we have enjoyed the filming and the editing and are throughly pleased with our efforts. We will now go through each element and talk them and what our group opinions are.

After recieving feedback from our questionnaire, the main problem that occured was that the plot was unclear. So after a discussion, we have decided to put the conversation at the start to make it clearer.

Music

As we have to have original music, Sophie went home and with help from her Sister, to record some music we thought would fit. We took a nursery rhyme sound and we put this over out opening credits and through the first few shots. We thought this was effective because the nature of a nursery rhyme reflected with the nature of this film if eerie and achieves the childlike atmosphere we were aiming for with Jenni.
Jo also went home and put together some music, again on a piano. She used a lower end note and this has been used over Jenni's monologue and a high pitched sound over the top of the end scene again with Jenni.

The film diary

Film Diary

Monday 18th January 2010 day 1

Today we did the shots of Mr Jones getting out of the car, Katie at the school gate, the following down the alley and Katie writing down the names in the classroom then scribbling them out.
We used a certain desk so whenever we do classroom shots we need to make sure we use the same desk for continuity.
We might redo the alley shot because it went wrong but we might try and just edit it instead.

Tuesday 19th January 2010; day 2.

Today, we organised the photographs and objects that we will use for “The Wall”. Tomorrow, we will use these and put them on the wall at Hazel’s. Sophie and Jo also added the footage into Adobe Premier Elements and started to edit and putting the film together.

Wednesday 20th January 2010 day 3

Today we went to Hazel’s house to film the scenes with Katie. We blocked the window with a blue sheet which gave the room a dingy feel and the walls were light and there was only a grey mattress in the room making it look like a prison cell, which we aimed for to make Katie look neglected.
First we thought if we did a shot with the scream in it we could cut out the video on adobe and just use the sound of the scream, we did that first and the scream sounded good but then we thought we might as well do the scream and the shot together which also looked good, so we are going to use the video and scream that was filmed in the same shot. The rest of the scene with Katie went really well and Jenni was brilliant, she played Katie exactly how we wanted Katie to be.
We then did the final scene with the fake blood which looked really good, when watching the shot back we saw that the way Katie was holding the knife could be interpreted in two ways; she could be self-harming or she could just be holding the bloody knife.

Thursday 21st January 2010 day 3

Today we filmed at lunch, we did the shot where Mr Jones gives Katie her work, this shot went well and we got a few shots so that we can choose best, we also did the star pupils faces which was fine apart from one of the actors was not wearing a completely white shirt so we will do that shot again tomorrow.

Friday 22nd January 2010 day 4

Today we were at Hazel’s house we did the scenes with Mr Jones and his friend which we got after a few shots and we also did the scenes where Mr Jones walks into the house and then later when it was darker we did him coming out of the house. We literally just ran out of battery so it was good that we got all the shots.
Filming went well overall and we got reasonably good shots even though we didn’t stick to the script on the Mr Jones and friend scene.

Tuesday 2nd February 2010

After agreeing that we were going to do the Mr Jones and friend scene again as the first shot had bad lighting making the footage a poor quality, Jo and Sophie went to a small room in the school where there is a kitchen and filmed the scene again there. This shot looked much brighter and better than the other shots, we then uploaded it onto adobe and edited the film a little more.
